  • Seminar on Amphibian Diversity in Vietnam and Vietnam – Japan collaborations

With support from the Nagao NEF, professors and researchers from Japan, Laos, and Vietnam held a session to share research experiences and foster cooperation among countries in studying vertebrate diversity in Asia. The mini-workshop and seminar took place at the Faculty of Biology, VNU University of Science, Hanoi, Vietnam, on March 19, 2024.

At the event, Prof. Masaharu Motokawa introduced the project we are implementing under the full sponsorship of Nagao NEF. It highlights the core values of biodiversity, academic exchange, and training that the project can bring to Southeast Asian countries, especially Laos and Vietnam.

The mini-workshop created an opportunity for talented bachelor’s degree students of the Faculty of Biology of VNU University of Science, Hanoi, to have direct access to samples, practice, and understand methods, as well as the importance of cranial morphology in taxonomy.

Finally, Prof. Kanto Nishikawa introduced the cooperation process between Japanese and Vietnamese researchers in research on reptiles and amphibians. At the same time, he also presented his impressive and interesting research results on worm frogs in Asia.
